2010 Citroen DS3

During the 2010 Soccer World Cup, I invited some of my friends over for a braai. Justin, who is a Sales Manager at Citroen, showed up with his DS3. We all marvelled at the design as he pull up to the house.

This car was definitely setting it's own trends, everything about the car looked original and not a rip off of other cars, and it looked good. So I chooned Justin that I would like to take the car for a test drive the following week.

On test drive day I took a friend of mine along, Rodney, he's the one in the pic. We did the usual route to Sibaya and back. But this time we went up the M4. I drove to Sibaya and Rod Drove back.

The car has everything you can think of as statndard, optionals are mainly for styling. It runs a 1.6l turbocharged 115kw engine, and 240nm of torque with a 6 speed gearbox. The suspension setup was more than adaquate for the power in the little car.

I did the route from Durban North to Sibaya on the M4. I was eager to run through the gears, but had to hold back a bit because this thing was like a bat outta hell! In a blink of  an eye I was literaly flying up the M4 and I hadn't even reached the 4th gear yet. I couldn't hold back my smile and it didn't leave me even after we got back to the office. This car was awesome! Things did get a bit shaky when we past Umhlanga, there was a bit of the M4 that was bumpy and the car started to bounce everywhere, but a little evasive action and throttle control rectified that situation.

We got to Sibaya and Rod took over. As I expected he couldn't stop smiling either. He got a good oppertunity to open it up on the N2 back to Umlanaga and as a passenger I didn't feel a thing, the car was smooth, the engine didn't make too much noise and if I hadn't looked at the speedo I would have never guessed what speed we were doing.

Overall this is great car and for it's price, at +-R250k, it's worth every cent. Rod wanted to buy one but his ballie chooned him "no". Rod had to listen to his ballie. The cab comes with a service plan standard which can be converted to a maintenance plan. This one get the thumbs up from me :-)
